Wellbeing Support
Psychoeducational Groups:
Psychoeducational groups provide individuals with information about specific issues. They may also teach healthy coping skills. The therapist, Counsellor, Facilitator, Helper provides most of the content through instruction.
Process-oriented Groups:
Process-oriented groups focus on the group experience. While the therapist Counsellor or Facilitator leads the group discussion, they act as a facilitator rather than an instructor. Individuals will participate by engaging in group discussions and activities.
Living Life to the Full:
Living Life to the full is a life skills course designed by Dr Chris Williams. It teaches important life skills which aims to help empower and equip you to be resilient and live a more stress-free life. You’ll learn to understand why you feel as you do; choose to do activities that improves your wellbeing. Identify blocks or activities that make you feel worse, boost your confidence, and become more assertive, work through anxieties, worries, and become more compassionate and supportive of yourself.
Resilience:
Resilience is directly related to wellbeing; it is about having the ability to cope with and adapt to new situations. Being resilient and positive, with a sense of wellbeing, enables you to approach other people and situations with confidence and optimism. When you’re resilient you are more likely to experience more positive emotional responses, including such things as happiness, serenity, optimism and joy, than negative emotional responses, such as guilt and blame.
Stress:
Stress is how you react when you feel under pressure or threatened. It usually occurs when you are in a situation that you don’t feel you can manage or control. Too much stress can affect your mood, your body and your relationships – especially when it feels out of your control. It can make you feel anxious and irritable, and affect your self-esteem. When you encounter stress, your body produces stress hormones that trigger a fight or flight response and activate your immune system. This helps you respond quickly to dangerous situations.
Wellness:
Wellness is the sustained wellbeing maintained consistently. Unlike wellness, wellbeing is not a set of behaviours, but rather a state of being related to how you perceive your life.
